When life hands you lemons, skip the lemonade and go straight for some crispy lemon pepper wings!
Ingredients
For the Chicken Wings:
2 lbs chicken wings (split into drumettes and flats, tips removed)
1 tbsp Osage Foods Tropical Lemon Pepper
2 tbsp Osage Foods Island Flavor All-Purpose
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup buttermilk (optional, for extra tender chicken)
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Lemon Pepper Sauce:
6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tbsp Osage Foods Tropical Lemon Pepper
1 tbsp Osage Foods Island Flavor All-Purpose
1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for extra tang)
Directions
Rinse and pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
In a large bowl, season the wings with 2 tbsps of all-purpose seasoning and 1 tbsp of lemon pepper.
Optional: Pour buttermilk over the wings, mix well, and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
Remove the wings from the buttermilk (if marinated) and shake off excess liquid.
Dredge each wing in the flour mixture, ensuring a light, even coating. For extra crunch, let the wings rest for 5 minutes.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wings in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
Transfer the fried wings to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, 1 tbsp of lemon pepper seasoning, 1 tbsp of all purpose seasoning, and lemon juice (if desired). Place the fried wings in a large bowl, pour the lemon pepper sauce over them, and toss until evenly coated.
Enjoy!
